Bear shot by wildlife officials near airport

GREENSBORO — A bear was shot and killed this morning when it got too close to a runway at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Henry Isaacson, chairman of the airport authority, said the bear was killed for “safety reasons.”
An official with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services made the decision to kill the bear.
It’s not known whether it was one of the bears seen roaming Greensboro recently.
