IDAHO FALLS – The Idaho Falls airport just received a $500,000 in grant money to help secure new air service to San Francisco.

The grant is one of 19 awarded nationwide under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program. The money is intended to provide a minimum revenue guarantee for an air carrier in any new start-up service for a short period of time, as well as marketing and start-up assistance.

United Airlines has expressed interest in a new direct route to San Francisco using this grant program.
