Jonesboro officials opt to retain SeaPort Airlines as town’s air service provider
- THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
JONESBORO, Ark. — Jonesboro officials have given the stamp of approval to SeaPort Airlines to continue service as the town’s commercial air passenger service provider.
The Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission and the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Transportation Committee agreed to retain SeaPort.
Dave Davidson, a member of the transportation committee, tells the Jonesboro Sun that Seaport has done what it said it would do.
SeaPort maintains terminals in Memphis, Tenn., along with the Arkansas towns of Jonesboro, El Dorado, Hot Springs and Harrison. Davidson says the airline also has started flights to Kansas City, Mo.
He says boardings at Jonesboro have risen from about 75 per month two years ago to 240 now, with the Kansas City flights a big reason for that increase.
